I am a plus size mom who is trying to find self love and lose weight!

Hey There Y’all,

I’m Alexis H. the face behind Milk and Stones, I was raised and saved in the Mojave Desert. I am a full time house wife/mom and writer. I wouldn’t have it any other way, I have been a stay at home mom for almost 3 years now.

I have always loved to write and tell stories, I started writing in general in high school. I started writing for my blog around my second child which was near February 2018. I tried blogging before but it didn’t feel right the first time around. I decided to give it a break and start over.

As you have probably read on the home page Milk and Stones is a place for me to share my Faith, walking with Him, stories, life lessons, mommy-hood, and mental state with you all. Hopefully it will spark something inside you or you can relate to in in any which way. I suffer from G.A.D (generalize anxiety disorder), it isn’t very fun but I know I can push through and over come it. 1 peter 5:7 I know that I don’t have to fight this alone.

I am more confident now to share my faith with everyone! Somethings you can know to get to know me better.

I am a mother to three wild-like-things; ages 8, 4, 2. I’m also a wife to a red neck husband who loves to work on cars and plays video games. He is my better half, or at least I like to let him think so. We have two dogs’ named Harley and Spock. They are a pain but I love them anyway, Spock is a boxer cattle mix and Harley is a field spaniel. Spock loves to shred things up and chew it apart, as Harley is my Netflix and chill then blame her brother for chew things up.

We are a bunch of nerds at our house, we love Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel hero’s more than DC hero’s and DC villains more than Marvel villain’s! Video games is a must for the boy’s of my house sadly, and outside sunshine is a must have. I was a nerd in high school, I played D&D, watch anime, and played video games. I have grown out of D&D and anime but still love some video games.

We are outside lovers, more like tolerate’rs, due to the heat which is a condition to living in a state that is pure desert and not enough seasons. We have three seasons hot, hotter, and blistering. There you have it!

Why Milk and Stones well I was reading my bible and I stumbled across 1 Peter 2:2 where he states “Like newborn babies, you should long for the pure milk of God’s word.” We need his word daily, monthly, yearly. We suffer if we don’t, I notice when I don’t read his word daily I am not what I should be. I am more grumpy, tired, longing, and left feeling alone.

As I continued to read down is states “Christ is the living Stone, people didn’t accept him but God chose Him. God places the highest value in him. You also are like living stones. As you Come to Christ, you are being build into a house of worship.” Simply put we are stones, each of us with a high value and each of us being built for something greater!

I picked Milk and Stones because we need a reminder of both, a reminder that we need the spiritual milk to strive to be the best we can be and need to know that we are like living stones, strong and being built into better things!
